2025 Newsletter

Quick hello to all of our new friends! We are Rachel and Emily, the two ladies behind the desk and the ones who love your dogs daily.

 Emily is usually our morning gal for drop offs, while Rachel heads up the pick ups in the afternoons. We're two best friends just living out our dream at The Ridge.

 If you have never been to The Ridge before, be sure to drive all the way to the top of the hill and turn RIGHT. Drive past the orange brick house and down to the black building with the yellow door. We're in there!

In 2024 we hired some new part-time faces, which you may see from time to time behind the desk (mostly on weekends). 

If you run into them, say hello to: Grace, Holly, Rachael, Jenn, and Kerri!

A new baby will be joining our family early June 2025! 

Daycare will remain open with Emily at the helm! You may see some more of our part-time staff or Terry (Rachel's husband) during this time as well.

Boarding will be closed for the month of June as we adjust. This might change, it just depends how things unfold. 

We're excited for this new challenge and we thank you all for your understanding and support as we navigate this new chapter!

After a review of our year, we have found that Monday daycare has not been as busy as we would like it to be. There are also a lot of Monday holidays throughout the year! 

As such and starting in March, we are going to try switching our grooming day on Thursday with our daycare day on Monday. We hope this change will help our regulars keep a consistent day of the week for daycare.

If you'd like to book a regular spot on Thursdays starting in March, please reach out! You currently cannot book this through the system, but if you message us we can get you in ;) 

Don't forget to follow us on Instagram. We post daily videos to our stories of the dogs that are in our care. Navigate to our profile, then click the logo to watch. Be sure to turn your volume on!

If your dog didn't make it into the video, don't worry! They are likely at our feet following us like velcro or snuggling us on the couch. :)

Our typical drop off for overnight boarding is in the morning. That way we have all day to help your dog feel at home and comfortable with us. 

At the end of their boarding, check out is also in the morning. You do have the option to extend their stay for the day, however there is a $35 (plus HST) fee for the extra time with us. 

As many of you know, we have a very long and single lane driveway that we share with our two neighbours. As such, we do have some driveway rules that we would love if everyone could follow. 

If you are at the top of the driveway and you see someone already coming up... please wait at the top until they have passed you.

If you are at the bottom of the driveway and see someone already coming down... please wait at the very bottom of the hill in the little barn parking area or on the street.

If drivers notice each other part way through coming up or down... please temporarily pull into the driveway half way down until the oncoming car has passed. 

We would appreciate if you can avoid driving on any of the grass. Please remain only on the paved part of the driveway in all seasons.

In winter: Do NOT go off-roading... you will get stuck on the edges of the driveway. If you feel unsafe driving up the driveway, call us! We will pick up at the bottom. 

We have gotten quite busy, which is great for us but not so great for last minute daycare bookings. If you're interested in your dog attending for a regular day of the week, please reach out and we can try to accommodate for that. Otherwise you will probably want to try and book random daycare days at least two weeks in advance, sometimes more. 

We are a small family business and really count on everyone being on time for pick up.

If you are running late, please please please shoot us a text ahead of time so that we can plan around your arrival time and coordinate our human child pick ups from daycare.

Keep in mind we only do morning drop offs for daycare. We do not provide afternoon half days. 

We also ask that you arrive on time for daycare. Arriving late can throw off our routine and create anxiety among the daycare/boarding group that day.

All overnight boarding will require a 30% non-refundable deposit, which is due upon receipt of booking request (ie. right away). Requests with unpaid deposits will be added to the waitlist.

Major holidays through 2025 will incur peak rates for overnight boarding. These holidays include: Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas & New Years. The peak rate will automatically apply when booking.

About twice a year we host a dental clinic that is run by KissableK9 at The Ridge. The difference they make is amazing! The total cost is $189 + HST ($50 of that is due to the host upon booking with the remainder due at the end of the service to KissableK9).

We do provide grooming services on Monday mornings. We encourage everyone to book your appointments for the entire year. We cannot guarantee last minute appointments. 

Message us for assistance in booking your appointments or check out the customer portal to request a date. 

We take intact puppies up to 7 months of age for daycare and boarding at our regular rates.

Intact males that are over 7 months old may incur an additional fee of $25 (plus HST) per day/night for both daycare and boarding. This is contingent on their behaviour and the behaviour of the rest of the group. 

Intact females are similar to that of the males (age, additional fees, etc.). The only difference is that if they are in heat or go into heat while in our care, they are not allowed to stay. Immediate pick up will be required.

Intact males over the age of 7 months can only be boarded for 3 consecutive nights maximum.
